Fundraising for Voluntary Service Overseas
Story
Hi everyone,
I recently found out I have been selected to volunteer overseas on a placement with VSO on an International Citizen Service placement to Dhading, Nepal from July to October to work on a community development program.
ICS and its partners work with communities and NGO's that have specifically requested their help with long term community development. In Nepal, VSO ICS teams work on Education and Governance programmes to promote women’s rights and community readiness for earthquakes and other natural disasters.
As part of this placement, I will be working with the Sisters for Sisters project which aims to reach the most marginalised and vulnerable girls in the country and equip them with the skills and confidence to stay in school, secure a safe livelihood and take control of their sexual and reproductive health.
The first part of my placement is to raise £800 towards the work of VSO and their partners. My place on the programme is already funded- visas, flights, travel and medical insurance, medication, vaccines, food. This fundraising, therefore, is to show my commitment to the placement and the money raised will go directly to VSO projects to ensure that they can make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities.
