Tikun Olam means to repair the world. The way I am choosing to do that is by donating to CAMFED - an organization that helps girls in Sub-Saharan Africa get an education. The reason I am focusing on things that involve feminism is because that is what I am looking at in the torah portion I am reading for my Bat Mitzvah. I realized that in the portion there is a lot that people don’t pick up on that involves overlooked women and girls. The organization’s donations help out incredibly. A $15 gift educates a girl for an entire year. It would really mean so much if you could help CAMFED grow by donating. Thanks! Sophie.
CAMFED (formerly the Campaign for Female Education) envisions a world in which every child is educated, protected, respected and valued, and grows up to turn the tide of poverty. As the most effective strategy to tackle poverty and inequality, CAMFED multiplies educational opportunities for girls and empowers young women to become leaders of change. Our focus is on girls and young women in rural areas of sub-Saharan Africa. This is where girls face acute disadvantage and where their empowerment will have a transformative impact.
