Story

Hi Guys!

Thank you for stopping by my Just Giving Page!

I am sure most of you know either me or my dad. My dad passed away in 2009 but before he left us, he was a volunteer for the Bradford based charity One in a Million. They work with disadvantaged youths across Bradford, giving them the stability and skills to succeed.

Bradford is a city that suffers from high crime and unemployment rates, culture clashes and poverty. One in a Million uses Sport, Art and Enterprise to encourage young people to make positive decisions in life. It promotes learning through vocational methods and believe each and every child has a talent or skill.

It was the key priorities and beliefs of One in a Million that made it a cause close to the heart of my Dad. He grew up as one of the youngest in a large family, unlike many of his peers he spent his time enthralled in sports; be it cricket, football or hurdles. He channelled his enthusiasm and energy towards sports; even though his medical history would put him at a disadvantage in comparison to his team mates he did not let it deter him. After leaving school at 16 to begin life in employment, he left school with more sports trophies than he did qualifications! Yet again, he did not let this deter him. He studied Accounting whilst working and ended up as a Finance Manager for the NHS.

My Dad's determination and positive choices make me proud of him.I am proud of what he had achieved in his short life. I am hoping to raise £1500 in order to sponsor an award at the One in a Million Awards Ceremony in memory of my dad. By volunteering, he wanted to give back to the community and wider world the opportunities and experiences it had given him. I hope that by sponsoring an award, the legacy my dad left can inspire others as he is not here in person to physically give back.

I would be ever grateful if you could help me in my quest to raise £1500 to sponsor the award! The £1500 goes directly to the charity, helping them to help others. If you can not help by donating financially,  please consider donating your time. Follow the link below for more details:
