Who is Snowdrop?
The Snowdrop project are a Sheffield based charity which aids in providing long-term support to survivors of human trafficking. At Snowdrop, empowerment is an essential value which is used to support those who have had their freedom taken away through slavery.
What is human trafficking?
Human trafficking is a form of modern slavery where people are recruited and moved for the purposes of exploitation. It can happen to people of all ages and nationalities but often it is prevalent in the most vulnerable groups whose desires to build a better future for themselves and their families are exploited. This is done through the act of recruitment, transportation, transfer by the means of threat, cohesion, fraud, deception, abuse of power, giving and receiving payments and/or abduction. The purpose of human trafficking is the use a person through forms of exploitation such as sexual exploitation, forced labour, domestic servitude, criminal exploitation and organ harvesting.
What does the Snowdrop project do?
There are many ways the Snowdrop charity helps survivors of human trafficking. These are some of the ways in which your donations can help:
- £7 - cup of coffee and a chat with a caseworker
- £60 - 1 hour of interpretation
- £50 - 1 hour of counselling
- £500 - 10 weeks of english classes for 26 people
- £300 - make a house a home!
