Thank you for visiting the Smiles with Grace JustGiving page for the Christmas cards! This is your way to donate online so you can electronically support Smiles with Grace while picking up some of our Christmas cards. We thank you so much for your support and hope that this will long continue! 

For those who are new, Smiles with Grace is a charity formed by Grace Boxall whilst she was a teenager in remission from a brain tumour. We are currently sponsoring a collaboration between GOSH and the Institute of Child Research to develop a bio-marker for spinal lipoma. Grace lost her battle against cancer on 26th Sept '13 but we still strive to continue her work, raising money for some well deserving people and causes. 

New related research to which Smiles is also supporting is on encephalocele, a rare yet serious birth defect which sees newborn babies’ brains forming on the outside of the skull. This is due to the neural tube, which closes during pregnancy to form the brain and spinal cord, not closing properly and thus leading to the misplaced formation of the brain and surrounding membranes. This usually leads to disability and sometimes death. Dominic’s research will identify whether there are possible risk factors with a long term view of introducing surgery for the condition in the coming years. Smiles wants to support Dominic in anyway possible, given how brilliant he was in working with Grace during her time in GOSH.
