Story
Working for a charity, I believe in practising what I preach so what better way to do so then by setting myself an incredibly tough but worthwhile challenge for 2016. The Macmillan Ride of Their Lives Horserace at York Racecourse on Saturday 11th June.
Sadly Cancer affects all too many people these days and seldom do you meet someone who hasn't seen first-hand the effects of Cancer amongst family and friends. As more people are living longer with cancer, and more are being diagnosed, Macmillan’s services are in greater demand than ever. The support of Macmillan is incredibly important and I am thrilled to have been selected to take part in this race. The money I raise will help fund Macmillan’s increasing range of services, including Macmillan nurses, cancer information services, practical help at home and help with money.
I’ve been round horses all my life in one way or another but entering into the world of horseracing is a whole new and very daunting experience. Sarah Bosley, former two time Lady Amateur Flat Champion of Martin Bosley Racing has very kindly taken me under her wing and is teaching me all she knows. I’ve been riding every day now since the start of December and hitting the gym hard in order to gain the fitness required to race ride over a mile. The nerves and adrenaline have already set in, maybe it has something to do with over 28,000 people being in attendance at York Races on the day and a further 350,000 people watching on television….no pressure!!
Any donation you can spare for this amazing charity is greatly appreciated and thank you for taking the time to visit my page.
