Story
**UPDATE**
I got round. I am not sure how I did it, but I hobbled over the line in an Olympian 4 hours 54 minutes. Even though it was a relatively wet day (apparently perfect weather for running) the atmosphere was unbelievable. For those of you contemplating doing this event next year, I can thoroughly recommend it!
Thank you so much for your interest and I look forward to catching up with you soon.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m raising money for the Brain and Spine Foundation. I’m sure that most of you have guessed why Brain and Spine Foundation is important to me, but in case you haven’t…
As many of you know, my wife Vicky suffered a brain haemorrhage last August. We were at home having a dinner party and had no warning and no idea of what was about to happen.
Vicky spent two weeks in hospital, and had a series of scans, attempted surgical procedures and a lot of rest.
Vicky’s desperation to leave hospital and return home to a familiar and comforting environment soon turned to fear and panic when she realised that she wasn’t surrounded by healthcare experts. Before long, my own anxiety levels started to go up, which, to be honest, only made things worse
We were really desperate for reassurance and advice on how to cope with Vicky’s very painful headaches and our high levels of anxiety. Although the staff at the hospital had been fantastic, we needed more information and guidance on what we could expect during the recovery process.
To our huge relief, we were directed towards the Brain and Spine Foundation, which was an invaluable source of practical information and guidance on Vicky’s condition. What is more the Foundation runs a helpline where specialist healthcare professionals give advice on neurological conditions and how best to cope with them.
Anyone can suffer from neurological conditions like Vicky’s, indeed unfortunately they are all too common. Nearly 6 months on from Vicky's haemorrhage and our questions still haven’t stopped, but the Brain and Spine Foundation have helped us to overcome the shock of what happened and get back to normality. It is important that they can continue to do such a fantastic job.
That’s why I really want to raise money for this charity during my attempt at the London Marathon! So please dig deep and sponsor me. Many thanks for your support. It is really appreciated.
PS Don't forget that by opting for Gift Aid, the Brain and Spine Foundation can reclaim an additional 28p of tax for each £1 you donate.
