Story
This is something I've always wanted to do, especially due to the price of the ferry and hovercraft these days, it's just a bit awkward carrying my wallet and phone! I'm doing the swim to raise awareness and much needed funds for research into, and support for motor neurone disease. As some of you may know, this is an illness that affected and ended the life of my mother-in-law in 2006, and one that is a debilitating and horrendous illness to live with for the individual involved and their families, and one that has no cure.Anyway, seeing as I'll be getting wet, cold and maybe a bit tired, I thought it only fair to ask if you wouldn't mind sponsoring me to do the swim. It's only 2.5 miles........if I swim in a straight line, and the tides don't end up taking me to France, as I've yet to find a waterproof sat nav! Actually, if I do end up in France, I'll have to swim back as my passport is out of date! The swim will be on one of two days; either Thursday 25th or Friday 26th August 2016, depending on the weather and tides, and not I hope, because it will take me two days to do it! I've just found out that I'm doing the swim on Thursday 25th now, and will be one of the first to swim starting at 8am, so no lie in for me! The swim will be from Ryde Sands on the Isle of Wight to Stokes Bay near Gosport, so come down and have a look for my head, hopefully bobbing up and down between a few waves!
