Story

Our deeply beloved dad, Simon Gough tragically lost his life on the 7th March 2022, in an accident in the Creag Meagaidh area, Highlands of Scotland.

Dad was a very experienced and well equipped mountaineer: on every, single, trip. He had a life time of experience and love for the mountains. He conquered many alone but also some with family and friends. He respected the mountains and brave teams who help keep people safe there.

On the morning of the 7th March, a call was made by a fellow walker for dad, and he was rescued off the mountains by the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team (LMRT). We sincerely thank them for everything they did that day.

The team is based in Fort William and cover over 5 thousand square kilometres, from Creag Meagaidh in the East all the way out to Rum and the Small Isles in the West. At the request of the police, LMRT attend incidents that are remote and/or where the normal emergency services are unable to operate. The team attend rescues day or night, 365 days of the year and in all weather conditions.

To be able to give back to this incredibly brave and life saving charity is an honour, but like all mountain rescue teams the vast majority of their funding is through donations. Therefore we ask you kindly, if possible, to donate in dads memory and for all of the important work they continue to do for others.

Thank you.
Love the "Gough girls"
Sally, Hannah, Laura, Sophie and Libby.
