Spinal Muscular Atrophy UK is the charity for people affected by SMA. We provide emotional support for anyone affected by SMA and fund research related activities.

Story

In May 2016 we welcomed our Niece, Amber Ivy Mills, into the family but at 8 weeks old she was diagnosed with SMA Type 1.

The generosity and support offered by SMA Support UK was staggering, within days the sent out a Multisensory Toy Pack full of items to entertain, sooth and comfort Amber. As well as leaflets with information and guidance for the family.

Unfortunately Amber developed complications and passed away at 4 months old. During her short life and the difficult times we faced afterwards, SMA Support UK were a massive help to us.

Because of this I am going to run (well, maybe walk and possibly crawl) the 10-12 miles and 20+ obstacles of the Tough Mudder Yorkshire course with the aim of raising enough money to buy a Multisensory Toy Pack for each painful, agonising, hard slogged mile!
