Forest Holme Hospice Charity was set-up to ensure that everyone in the local community affected by a life-limiting illness or bereavement gets the care and support they need, either at home or in our dedicated hospice facility. We need to raise £1M each year to deliver the highest level of care.

Story

Brian, Rikki, Simon and Rich,  are on a quest in aid of 2 great causes and in memory of a close and dear friend Kevin.

We will also be supported by a team, consisting of Steve (Kevin’s Brother in law) Ian, close friend of Kevin in the team Van, Sue, (my wife) Tanya (Rikki’s wife) and Rachel (Brian’s partner) in support car/s. This is a huge team effort

We are 4 average middle aged blokes, well 3 middle age and one approaching middle age! from Dorset who are planning to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats in June. We will will be finishing on the anniversary of Kevin’s passing and hope that his wife Annette, sons Mat and James and anyone including close friends will be there at the end.

We aren’t experienced tarmac warriors and we aren’t superhuman so we would really like your help as we get ready for, and then complete, the nearly 1,000 mile trip.

We believe we can do it with training and determination, but with your help and motivation we can change that to KNOWING we can do it.

We lost a dear friend of ours in June to a very aggressive from of Prostate cancer and he is our inspiration in this quest.

He meant so much to so many people and he really was the one you’d describe as “the life and soul of the party”.

Losing Kevin has taught us a lot and certainly the fact that this disease could strike any of us, or more tragically, those closest to us at any time. Kevin died at the age of 52 leaving a wife and two sons behind.

We plan to complete our challenge in 14 days

The charities we are raising money for are Prostate Cancer Research and the Forest Holme Hospice where Kevin spent his last few days who were amazing. They do such an incredible job in what is at end of life  they only ever see bad endings, but the special care and way they do this is nothing short of a miracle

Prostate kills more people than Breast Cancer!

We are trying raise awareness in the that more awareness will make sure more men get checked earlier.

This is plea to help us by sponsoring our journey and raising important  funds for either the fantastic Forest Holme or Prostate UK.

Please just think about your plans for this evening and the weekend. Will you spending quality time with a man you are close to? A husband, boyfriend, brother, father, son, uncle, grandad or just a very close friend. If you can help us you’ll also be helping them, helping them to live a long and healthy life.

With hope and anticipation that you can help us ordinary blokes achieve something very special and at the same time raise awareness and valuable funds for such great causes.

We are fortunate to have local businesses sponsoring given legs of our journey and thank all of them and anyone who donates

Thank you

We will have progress reports on our mammoth task and hope to capture some spectacular scenery on route.

Please give generously.

Our heart felt thanks

Brian, Rikki & Simon and special thanks to Richard whom is helping us up to Scotland.
