I have had the most privilged life, a life which could have been so different if my birth mother had not taken such care in adopting me into the most fabulous family, for which I am eternally grateful, a wonderful home life, and a private education which set me up for the rest of my life, after 46 years I found my birth family, an amazing, tremendously happy story in itself. Some children however do not have such a start in life, this amazing charity which I have visited with my trainer Mark, cares for disadvantaged, vulnerable and traumatised young people in some cases with horrific outcomes. A friend of mine, many years ago taught a young boy at Caldecott and what she was allowed to tell me about him and his progress was something that has never left my mind, and probably never will. It was the reflection on my life and that of this young boy that left me in no doubt that if I were to do a fundraising event then Caldecott needed my efforts to raise some much needed funds to enhance the lifes of these children.

So how did I arrive at this point? 20 months ago I was diagnosed with a pre diabetic condition, it came as a massive shock, I cover huge mileage in my business and had gained excess weight in the wrong places!! Im not a small guy anyway, a rugby player, rower and lover of physical sports got me to 60 years of age, without too much trouble. So now was the time (April 2019) to make ammends. My niece Hannah had trained in boxing with great success and it seemed right that I should follow in her footsteps. Thankyou Hannah!! I met Mark Lodge, through a chance meeting, he's now my trainer and friend, a European boxing and martial arts Champion, my kind of guy, no nonsense, gritty training, which has got me to a fitness level I don't think I have ever achieved in forty years. I am no longer pre diabetic, my doctor could not believe the results which have come about through a tough and consistant fitness regime.

I planned to do a charity fight last December but through a sparring injury to my eye, I was advised to stop contact sports, but I have carried on with the training and now ready to fulfill my goal with attempting 50 x 2 minute rounds with Mark in a boxing pad/drills capacity, 100 minutes of punching!! We are doing this at The Surrey Fitness Factory, Silvermere Golf Centre, near Cobham, Surrey on February 8th 2020 at 1pm.We would love to see you there.

Thank you for supporting Caldecott it will make a huge difference in a childs life.
