Story
Sean Lyons, Chairman of Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust takes on Movember! He will refrain from shaving his upper lip in order to raise money for Men's Health Awareness.
Men’s Health Awareness covers three main areas, prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health. Countless avoidable deaths occur through these three illnesses, due to men not having the courage or knowledge of how to seek help if noticing problems. In 2011 a staggering 75% of suicides in the UK were male, alongside over 42,000 males being diagnosed with prostate or testicular cancer.
At King's Mill Hospital alone 209 patients were diagnosed with prostate cancer between 2013 - 2014.
Sean Lyons said:
“As Chairman I believe it is my responsibility to get involved and lead Sherwood Forest Hospitals in helping to raise awareness for Men’s Health.”
“It’s a noble charity, which allows people to unite and find amusement with those taking part, and is a subtle reminder to the public to give generously in order to conquer these inescapable illnesses that plague a large proportion of the population.”
“I for one am proud to be a part of such an inspiring and enjoyable cause, not only has it raised millions in the last decade but it’s also an excuse to leave your upper lip untended without repercussions! So I urge people to get involved and donate to Men’s Health Awareness.”
