I am doing this fundraiser in memory of my wonderful mother Mary and father Dan. (RIP Mary 22nd January 2021, RIP Dan 19th May 2021)

The palliative care unit took exceptional care of both Mom and Dad. For Mom, the community team were a Godsend in the months leading up to her passing and the inpatient team in her very last days. Dad was an inpatient on two occasions in recent months and sadly lost his battle 19th May 2021.  They were both treated with such care, compassion and dignity, with their final moments treated with as much importance as if they were their first.

When both Mom and Dad were inpatients together in January of this year, the staff were so accommodating, arranging bed visits between their rooms and allowing the family to spend our time between the two. Such precious times would not have been possible without the loving care of all the staff - nurses, healthcare assistants, catering staff and doctors. 

We are eternally grateful that Mom and Dad passed away in such a peaceful and serene place surrounded by love  xx
