We support parents whose children have died to help them cope with their tragic losses.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In the name of Allah, most beneficent, most merciful.

In December 2021, our daughter Shafia was born a sleeping angel.

Inna lillahi wa ilayhi rajioon.

Child loss, particularly in late preganancy, is devastating. It is totally unexpected and parents are not always prepared sufficiently to deal with it.

Our hospital, Stepping Hill in Stockport supported us more than we could ever hope but understanding our religious obligations was not always clear. Not every hospital has a Muslim chaplain and finding out Islamic duties and seeking the right spiritual comfort is not always easy.

Child loss in pregnancy is not also widely understood and despite the best intentions of people around us, parents can benefit from specialist support.

We found out about the support packs that the organisation ’Children of Jannah’ have put together through a friend and would like to support other Muslim families in our region by providing these packs free of charge to families who are going through one of the hardest time in their lives. We have spoken to our hospital who have assured us they are happy to provide these packs to Muslim families and integrate them into the bereavement support training they offer for Muslim families.

One of the hadith that was often quoted to us during our loss was “The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “By the One in Whose hands is my soul, the miscarried foetus will drag his mother to paradise by his [umbilical] cord if she was patient [with the miscarriage], hoping to be rewarded.” [Ahmad]”

Patience during intense grief is a big ask: by supporting this cause you are helping families understand their loss, their duties and offering them a helping hand to exercise the patience Allah SWT has requested.

We pray that any consolation, even the tiniest comfort that you provide grieving parents through these packs (or the other services that Children of Jannah will be able to offer as a result of your donations) will be a reward for you in the hereafter.

Whoever consoles a bereaved mother will be dressed with a (special) garment in Paradise. (At-Tirmidhī)

May this act count as a sadqah jariyah for you and may all your good deeds and good intentions be accepted. Ameen.
