Story
On 22nd June 2019, we will be taking part in the Cancer Focus Mourne Seven Summits to raise money for local cancer research that is being funded by Cancer Focus NI at Queen’s University Belfast.
The Seven Summits Challenge
The challenge will involve climbing to the summit of all seven peaks in the Mourne Mountains, Co.Down that are 700m or more above sea level. Following a fixed route we will take on the following mountains:
Slieve Donard 850m
Slieve Commedagh 765m
Slieve Bernagh 727m
Slieve Meelmore 704m
Slieve Meelberg 708m
Slieve Binnian 747m
Slieve Lamagan 704m
The hike is roughly 18 miles across mountainous terrain and will be completed in one day!
Cancer is a disease that impacts the lives of everyone at some stage and Cancer Focus NI are a local charity working to reduce the impact of cancer on people’s lives. They provide care and support for cancer patients and their families and fund scientific research into the causes and treatment of the disease and campaign for better health policy to protect our community and its future.
This is a cause very close to our hearts and appreciate that many of you may also have been affected by this horrible disease. By taking part in this challenge, we hope to contribute even marginally to helping understand it better and to help save lives.
Any donations, however small, will make such a difference to the research this amazing charity does.
Thank you in advance for all of your support,
Paul, Hannah, Katy, Cameron, Nathan, Michelle, Peter, Marcus & Vicky
