Assalamu Alaikum,

My name is Selina Ali and I am here to talk to you about the importance of fundraising for Novo Jibon, which is an initiative to provide clean water in Bangladesh through the gift of Dig-a-well.

The gift of Dig-a-well can serve up to 200 people, providing access to clean water for drinking, washing and cooking, as well as keeping livestock hydrated. On average these wells serve up to 35 families.

This initiative is especially important to me as it is in honour of my younger sister who is battling with triple negative breast cancer which has spread to her lungs. She is a mother of two young children Sumayyah who is 4 years old and Rahma who is 1. And so, the gift of Dig-a-well and access to clean water can provide hope and comfort not only to my sister but to many other families in Bangladesh as well.

In Islam, Sadaqah Jariyah or continuous charity is highly valued. This means that even after we pass away, the rewards of our good deeds continue to benefit us. By donating to Novo Jibon, we have the opportunity to earn Sadaqah Jariyah as the recipients of our gift will continue to benefit from clean water.
