Thank you for taking time to visit my JustGiving page.
So I'm going to be jumping out of a plane this summer from 10,000 feet for charity...I'm scared of heights! I'm sure you're now wondering why I'm doing this if I'm such a wimp. Sure, I could've done a bake sale but I'm hoping by doing something I fear I can encourage further donations - you've got the easy bit!!
I'm doing this for the Lymphoma Association who provide support and information for those diagnosed with lymphatic cancer. This type of cancer has a direct and strong impact on the immune system however many of us are unaware of what it is. I also had no idea of this cancer until my cousin was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma recently; it can be developed at any age but specifically those in their 20s and above 70 - men more than women.
The most common symptom of Hodgkins Lymphoma is a painless swelling in the lymph nodes. However 1 in 4 people have more general symptoms such as:- Heavy Sweating (usually at night)
- Loss of weight over a short space of time
- Itchy Skin
- Abdominal pain
- High temperatures (usually at night)
Due to the lack of knowledge of these symptoms they're often ignored - this is what we need to change!
