Story
CHAS is a charity that provides the only hospice services in Scotland for children and young people who have life-shortening conditions for which there is no known cure. CHAS runs two children’s hospices, Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch, and a home care service called CHAS at Home. Caring for children, young people and their families is at the heart of all that we do. Our vision is that children and young people in Scotland will have access to palliative care when and where they need it. At CHAS we offer care in our two children’s hospices, Rachel House and Robin House, and through the CHAS at Home service. At the hospices we share the care of children (including babies) and young people with families so that they can relax and enjoy some precious time together as a family.
I am running in the marathon des sables, 150 miles across the Sahara in memory of our wonderful wee boy Tom and to raise as much money as possible for this brilliant charity.
The Marathon Des Sables is ranked by the Discovery Channel as the toughest footrace on earth. Known simply as the MDS, the race is a gruelling multi-stage adventure through a formidable landscape in one of the worlds most inhospitable climates - the Sahara Desert. The rules require you to be self sufficient, to carry with you on your back everything except water that you need to survive. You are given a place in a tent to sleep at night, but all other equipment and food must be carried.
The event requires both a substantial financial and personal (training, training and training) commitment.
So please dig deep and give what you can- everything will make a difference. Many thanks for your donations.
EVERY PENNY DONATED GOES TO CHAS.
