I have been waiting for the right opportunity and challenge similar to events my fellow Scrum V colleagues Jiffy (Jonathan Davies) and Nugget (Martyn Williams) have completed in supporting Velindre like climbing Kilimanjaro and cycling across America. When I heard Shane had agreed to trek Patagonia I jumped at the chance and so I’m really pleased I’ve finally got the chance to be involved. Everyone in Wales knows about the special relationship between the two countries and to actually be in Patagonia as part of the official 150th anniversary celebrations will be amazing. We will be carrying our all own gear and camping for the 6 day trek over mountain trails, so it will be a tough challenge, but nothing like the challenge that cancer patients face every day.

Velindre Cancer Centre is the largest non - surgical cancer Hospital in Wales and has been providing support and care to cancer patients for nearly 60 years. We are the premier provider of radiotherapy and other specialised anti-cancer treatments in Wales. Radiotherapy is one of the key treatments and contributes to cures for approximately 40% of patients affected by cancer, and recent advances at Velindre means that it can be delivered with remarkable precision.
