So what exactly are we doing and why do we want your money?

In a whacky races style event we are travelling 3,500km from South to North India in a glorified lawnmower. If you have ever been to India you will know this is no mean feat as the roads can only be described as mental... we have actually had to sign forms to say that if we die it is our own fault for being so crazy as to participate in The Rickshaw Run. But what an adventure it will be!

We have two weeks to travel 3,500km in a three wheeled scooter and its all in the name of charity. To participate, we have to raise £1000; a minimum of £500 for Cool Earth, The Adventurists chosen charity and £500 for a charity of our choice. We have chosen to raise money for the Behcets Syndrome Society. Behcets syndrome/disease is a rare autoimmune disorder that Lee (one of the team members) was diagnosed with around 18+ months ago. Behcets is a complex inflammatory disease and sufferers have multiple symptoms including both internal and external ulcers, eye involvement (with a risk of going blind), joint pain (rheumatoid arthritis), chronic fatigue, gastrointestinal issues, chronic headaches... and that's just a few. Unfortunately, due to the lack of funding and rarity of this disease, there are no cures or even medication; since being diagnosed Lee has been on a cocktail of different drugs that are primarily for other diseases to try and manage her symptoms. Some work, some don't... it can be a bit of a rollercoaster for someone with Bechets. More funding would enable more research into the disease and provide better medical care for sufferers. Therefore we're asking for you to part with your hard earned cash to help us.

Unlike Jeremy Clarkson we have no mechanical support and we are paying all of our own costs (travel, accommodation, rickshaw hire etc.) so everything we raise will go direct the charity. It would be amazing if you could support us. Any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated.
