Story
Hi!! I'm Scarlett Chapman and this Christmas (and all throughout December) I'm busking, releasing a single (which is out now!), filming a music video and fundraising, with 100% of everything I raise going to the charity 'Off the Fence'.
For three years running I have been busking in Brighton and Hove raising money for the homeless each Christmas. Across the three years over £7000 has been raised!
I am very excited to be raising money for charity again this year. I’m looking forward to raising as much money as possible to give to 'Off the Fence' , who will use the money I make to help homeless people around Brighton and Hove. Their project ‘Antifreeze’ provides food, hot drinks, sleeping bags and hygiene items to the homeless and this is something that will really show those who are homeless this Christmas, that people care. This is something that means a lot to me

More about homelessness in Brighton:
The true size of the homelessness issue in Brighton & Hove this year will make your blood run cold. Official rough sleeping figures are often underestimated as they rely on single-night counts and rough estimates by local authorities. As many as 60% of single homeless people do not show up on official figures at all, as they are not on Council housing waiting lists. This is especially true of Brighton & Hove as rents rise and mortgages become out of reach. The average life expectancy of a homeless person in Brighton & Hove is 45 for men and 43 for women. Around 12-15 people die on the streets of Brighton and Hove every year from hunger and the cold. Illness, food deprivation, extreme weather conditions and different forms of addiction contribute to homelessness.
This year you can be the difference.
Thank you,
SC
