Story
SOS Children's Villages work in emergencies to protect children and their families so they have the support to cope with living through chaos, and the chance to pick up their lives again when it's over.
On 24 February, the Russian Federation announced and started a large-scale military operation on Ukraine that has a significant impact on the lives of children and families in communities throughout the country. We anticipate large-scale displacement and movements of the population, and both the staff and children we work with in Ukraine will need significant support for a long time
In addition to the children and families already cared for by SOS Children’s Village prior to the invasion, large numbers are expected to need help as a direct result of the war.
The money you generously donate will be spent on providing:
- Relocation support and shelter – giving families relocation and housing costs.
- Family reunification with other partners.
- Short-term emergency support for families– such as psychological first aid, referrals, emergency assistance (food, medicine, hygiene items)
- Trauma care and mental health support both for families and for staff
- Extra Staff – an increase in families and children needing support will mean more staff are required
