Story
The Waveney SHE Choir has chosen to sing for Leeway Support, at their Christmas busking session in Bungay. The charity's aim is to provide free and confidential support to anyone across Norfolk and Suffolk wanting to escape domestic abuse and violence.
1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime, while 750,000 child incidents of domestic abuse are reported in the UK every year. For over 40 years Leeway has provided support to adults, young people and children who are experiencing domestic abuse in Norfolk and Suffolk. The charity operates eight safe houses, welcoming those experiencing abuse to stay as long as necessary to secure a future free from a dangerous partner or family member.
How you can help make a difference...
Without the support of the public, of businesses, local and national authorities and charitable trusts many of the services Leeway Support provides would not be possible. Donations of money, time and practical support allows the charity to work with thousands of people every year. Here's how you can help:
£10 could provide an activity pack and a toy for a child coming in to a refuge
£20 could provide a mobile phone which can be locked to an emergency number
£50 could provide 2 hours of phone line crisis support and advice
About the singers...
Waveney SHE Choir is an informal female choir from Bungay and the surrounding areas. For the last 4 years, these ladies have been meeting fortnightly to learn, practice and enjoy singing a broad range of acapella arrangements.
