Story
Thanks mainly to the incredible support of the Bridgwater District Nurses, when my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2018, we were able to care for him at home right through to his death. He lived out his final chapter with us in our small, rented house. It was a difficult, beautiful and challenging time for us all. Many memories were made, lots of laughter, lots of tears and importantly for us, he was in our home.
We couldn't have done it without the NHS District Nurses.
Their regular visits, daily in the end, their bright, friendly attitude and their compassion gave us the practical, emotional and psychological support we needed to keep going and to give my dad the best care possible in his final days. Just knowing that we could call on them anytime of day or night was hugely reassuring. I cannot praise them highly enough.
I have wanted to do something to express my gratitude for a long time and I'm ready now.
Whatever money we raise for Friends of Bridgwater Hospital will go directly to the District Nurses. They can spend it in whatever way is most beneficial to them. Too often they were rummaging around for supplies that were running low and regretting delays in acquiring new stock. But I'm equally happy for money to be spent on hand cream, a new kettle... Whatever they need.
I will also be donating my hair to The Little Princess Trust who make & provide wigs free of charge for children who have lost their hair due to illness.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Please feel free to give generously, they deserve it and I'm shaving off a LOT of hair for this!
