Story
I have run the Silverstone Half Marathon twice and my best time was 1:44 and then I ran the San Diego Marathon in 3:59, the Leeds Half Marathon and The Great North Run last year and here I go again in the hope of raising some money and breaking my dreaded 1.44 time.
I always run in memory of my uncle George and usually raise money for Dove House Hopsice through the generosity of friends, family co-workers and people I don’t even know. However, I also like to raise money for Beating Bowel Cancer and I would really like your support.
My uncle George had bowel cancer. He was a great man who generously spent a vast majority of his time proudly taking me to tennis tournaments and giving me advice, usually through jokes, on how to win. He also occasionally gave my opponents tips too and said that “this would only help me get better” and after all “they are from Yorkshire too.” He had so much energy and passion in life and was always sociable and loved meeting new people. He never stopped learning and always shared his knowledge. He told stories for hours and always made people laugh.
Bowel cancer affects 1 out of 8 people, takes 50 lives a day and over 100 new cases of bowel cancer are recognized a day. The frustrating part is that it is a curable cancer if diagnosed early enough.
Raising money to help beat bowel cancer and other charities is what inspires me when I don’t want to run because I feel tired or just lazy and would rather eat a pizza, watch Friends or Will and Grace.
Please sponsor me so that we can help beat bowel cancer. I don't have very long to train for this event so I am working super hard to beat my personal best at this half marathon.
Love Sarah
