Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For those of you that follow me on social media, you will have seen my many running posts uploaded by my partner in crime, Laura.
My passion for running was ignited by my dad, who has a running career that some can only dream of. The London and New York marathon are to name but a few of his accolades. (which were completed in little over 3 hours)
Sadly at the beginning of this year our family received the devastating blow that my dad had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a life limiting, debilitating and degenerative disease which in the not too distant future will claim his life.
This disease has seen my dad deteriorate progressively over a period of time to the point that his running days are a distant memory.
He has always had faith in me and my desire to run. So I decided to do the couch to 5k. Back then the 2 minute runs seemed like the impossible, never mind the possibility of 5k. As time progresses so did my fitness, and not before long I completed my 5k. I was over the moon.
My partner in crime made a flippant comment and remarked, ‘next is 10K!’
The dream of achieving 10K, was simply that; a dream.
However my dad had faith. He believed in my ability to do it, and I knew he could live his desires to run through me.
I completed my first 10K, a few weeks back with my partner in crime pushing me to my limits. I called my dad to tell him I’d completed 10K, and he wasn’t surprised. He believed in me all along. My time was 1hour 7 mins.
So me and my fellow ‘Sister with Blisters’ are going to be running the Wilmslow festive 10K and would like to raise money for Motor Neurone Association. I’m holding to try and get my time as close to the hour and make my dad proud.
The work that MNDA do is phenomenal and helps us as a family support my dad In the best way we can. Without fundraising like ours, they simply can’t support the families who so desperately need it in their darkest times.
The Motor Neurone Disease Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focused on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by Motor Neurone Disease.
They improve care and support for people with MND, their families and carers.
They fund and promote research that leads to new understanding and treatments, and brings us closer to a cure for MND.
They campaign and raise awareness so the needs of people with MND and everyone who cares for them are recognised and addressed by wider society.
