London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
Hello! This October I'm running the London Marathon for UK Youth, an amazing charity dedicated to ensuring that all young people have access to the support and opportunities that they need to thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.
UK Youth sits at the heart of a network of 8,000 youth organisations, collectively supporting 5.3m young people across the country and connecting them to the critical support of their local youth organisation.
What is youth work?
Youth work is a distinct educational process, adapted across a variety of settings, which supports a young person's personal, social and educational development. It enables young people to develop their voice, learn practical skills, grows their confidence to influence and make informed choices about their lives.
Why is it so important?
Youth work is a lifeline for millions of young people across the UK, particularly those from underserved communities. For some, their youth club is the only safe space they have to go and their youth worker is the only trusted adult they can talk to. Yet over the last decade we have seen more than £1billion in funding cut from local youth services, which has had a direct impact on mental health issues, youth loneliness and instances of serious youth violence.
Every young person has a right to access safe spaces in their local community where they can experience positive activities delivered by trusted, well-trained youth workers and volunteers.
Any donation - big or small - will be hugely appreciated and help UK Youth to continue delivering crucial support to young people across the country.
Thank you so much!
