Story
You heard it right. I am giving up coffee for one full month to raise money for Phoenix Charity.
Phoenix is a newly registered charity that supports individuals entrenched in addiction to access the vital support that they need. Many people fall through the gaps and end up dead due to lack of funds to get the help they so need.
Take for example Frank, a 65 year old veteran. Frank witnessed trauma during his time serving in the army. Frank called us because he was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. In order for Frank to cope he turned to opiate pain killers. They helped him sleep, they helped him forget his pain for a while. The addiction escalated. Frank felt unable to stop and reached out. Frank asked if we could fund him to get a detox and go to rehab. Phoenix members of staff (who are all volunteers) were able to get Frank the access to treatment he needed to save his life.
Sandra suffered with chronic depression and in an attempt to manage her condition, she used Street drugs to try to cope. This escalated and Sandra had three over doses in one week. Crying out for help, scared she would die, she engaged with the drug and alcohol service and begged to go to rehab. On the third attempt of taking her life, she was rushed to resus, detoxed in hospital, and the drug and alcohol services and the mental health team were unable to help and she returned to her house alone.
These are just two individuals Phoenix strives to support. In 2018/19, approximately 3.2 million people in the UK, who were between the ages of 16 to 59, had taken a drug, which equates to around 1 in 11 adults. These numbers continue to rise daily.
For just £1500 Phoenix can offer a full alcohol home detox and 2 years of secondary treatment, which includes housing and support. For £8950 we can finance an individual to get three months inpatient rehab care.
Thank you for supporting Phoenix in its mission to save lives!
