We provide inclusive play and youth schemes to support disabled children & young people

Story

On Sunday we will be cycling with Henry around Alice Holt Forest in Surrey. It may only be 7 miles, but it will be a challenge to keep Henry on the right course, momentum up the hills and control down the hills. 7 miles could feel like 70!

Challengers has been a part of our lives for the last 10years and without them, life would be very different for all of us. For Henry and other disabled children and young people, they provide play opportunities after school, Saturdays and in the school holidays.  Without them, Henry would only have school and home which would be very dull for him! As well as play, it gives him the opportunity to develop his independence and socialise just like other children and young people do.

For us, Challengers has enabled us to have a break from caring for Henry in the knowledge that he is having fun in a safe and happy environment.  It means we have had time to spend with Freddie without being distracted and time to be ourselves. Just being at home without the theme tune to Mr Tumble or Peppa Pig in the background is a break.

Challengers and other Short Break providers are essential for the wellbeing of disabled children, young people and their families and without them, there would be many families in crisis.

Please support Challengers, they are unique and we are very fortunate to have them.  Every little helps.

About the charity

All children need to play, but for disabled children it is essential to help them reach their full potential. Challengers provides numerous play schemes for disabled children from across the South East. However, there are hundreds of children missing out every day and your gift can help them play.
