Martins love for all things sailing started young and never stopped. His passion for the sport continued to grow as a sailor and as a sailing coach. Over the years Martin has coached youth sailors in a range of different classes. He blended his day job as a primary school teacher with coaching and he thoroughly enjoyed getting the very best from his sailors.

After being diagnosed with incurable cancer in October 2016, Martin (after a short time off) got back into his coaching and with gusto. He wanted to make a difference and he most certainly did. Martin had a huge passion for sailing whether it was coaching young sailors to help reach their potential or sailing himself and ensuring that his children began to develop an interest in sailing, it was very much an intricate part of his life.
