Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As our supporters know, Maddi's Butterflies own and run a caravan which is sited at Ribby Hall Village in Lancashire. This is an incredibly important resource for the charity. The caravan allows us to provide families affected by childhood cancers with holidays, where treatment cycles, financial constraints and the unpredictability of dealing with the illness can often mean they miss out.
At Maddi's Butterflies, we understand first hand how important it is for families affected by childhood cancers to be able to spend quality time together, away from the hospital environment. This doesn't just help the child undergoing treatment, but also the wider family too.
Our caravan is extremely popular with the families we support. We're able to be flexible with our families as we understand that last minute cancellations happen, and because we run the caravan centrally, we work hard to meet the needs of the families referred to us. Sadly, we've had instances where children have received a terminal diagnosis and have requested to return to the caravan with their family. It's so important to us to be able to fulfil these wishes.
Because we offer free holidays throughout the year (other than the 6 weeks the park is closed from January each year), and in order to ensure that we stay as flexible as possible for our families, the financial cost of siting and running the caravan are very high. The annual site fees alone are £6,350 per year, and that's before taking into consideration the other running costs.
Over recent years, we've been able to meet the costs of running the caravan from a combination of grants provided and from charitable funds. But now we're seeking help from our supporters with a special fundraising appeal for the caravan costs for 2019/20. We would be so grateful if you would please consider providing a donation. It really would mean the world to Maddi's Butterflies and the families we support.
Your support would be recognised by way of a thank you note and a small token of appreciation from the charity.
As ever, thank you for your continued support.
