Story
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Whether it being through church, Crusaders or the vast array of sports he took part in, many of you will have been fortunate enough to have known, or will have known of, John Eakins.
In June 2013, John was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour which could not be treated and, following several weeks of palliative care at Sobell House Hospice, he passed away on September 4th, 2013.
I was immensely fortunate to grow up with John as a role model and friend during my youth and I can honestly say that I would not be the person I am today, especially in my Christian faith, if it hadn't been for the support and advice John provided me with when I was growing up.
The support Sobell House Hospice gave to John and his family during this incredibly hard time was outstanding. For that very reason, I've decided to run the 2016 London Marathon in order to raise money for this outstanding local charity - their work really does makes a difference.
Sobell House’s aim is to enrich the lives of their patients and those who love and care for them in the communities in which they operate across Oxfordshire.
Their vision is for an Oxfordshire where high quality end of life care is available to all those who need it, wherever they are, and for their relatives to have access to help during the patient’s life and to have the help they need to adapt to their loss and go on with their lives.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
