Story
Carls family have asked that if you wish to make a donation that they would like to support SALTO Gymnastics Club in Carl's memory. Carl became involved with SALTO, when his eldest daughter started attending pre-school classes over 20 years ago. Carl later joined the Board of Trustees in 1997 and has been working as Chief Operating Officer alongside being a Trustee and a Company Director of Salto Charitable Foundation.
Carl has had a huge role in the developments of the club over the years from grants, fundraising, volunteering to help at events and more recently overseeing the operations of the club. SALTO would not be where it is today without all of his hard work.

He worked tirelessly during this time to develop and improve Salto into one of the largest and most respected community sports clubs in the area. Under his guidance the club has become a huge community asset, providing sporting opportunities for children and young people across Luton, Northwest Hertfordshire, and South Bedfordshire together with personal development opportunities for young people and adults to develop as young leaders and coaches, often in paid coaching roles.
He met the challenges of the pandemic head on, skilfully using his banking and finance background to steer Salto through the many financial and logistical challenges presented during this period. He was instrumental in ensuring its survival and its ability to recover strongly thereafter.
Carl was also passionate about Luton and its sport and physical activity infrastructure. He was actively involved for a number of years as a committee member and ultimately chair of the Luton Sports Network. He gave time to others looking to develop their clubs, always contributed productively to strategic planning and policy related work around the development of sport and physical activity, and was a true friend of, and advocate for the Active Partnership.
Carl will be greatly missed by the sport and physical activity community of Luton and Bedfordshire and gymnastics nationally.
