Sally's parents, Ella and Max, believed that no person should ever go hungry. Max was a prisoner in a Labour Camp in Romania during the Second World War and survived on very little moldy food whilst being forced to do hard physical labour. Ella was a child during the war. She also didn't have much to eat. She grew up in the East End of London, one of seven children.
Sally's parents were very hospitable people and had an open house. People who were lonely, widowed, poor, divorced or in need of food and company were invited for meals. Ella could always rustle up a meal at no notice with whatever ingredients were in the house. She liked to have a well stocked larder, fridge and freezer for this purpose. They never turned anyone away. This is why we are supporting Leket UK.
Leket UK supports Lekt Israel. Leket Israel, the National Food Bank, is the leading food rescue organization in Israel. Unique among all other organizations that serve the poor in Israel and food banks worldwide, Leket Israel’s sole focus is rescuing healthy, surplus food and delivering it to those in need through partner nonprofit organizations.
