Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
At the end of the ‘lock down and self-isolation’ period there will be many people praised for their commitment, hard work and persistence to get things done, the ‘key workers’. My worry is that there are so many unseen carers that are managing to care for someone in their own home, with no support or reduced support due to the reduction of services in the area. The parents/spouses/partners, who would rather carry on caring alone, than allow carers in who have to provide care to others as community carers. These parents/spouses/partners are not necessarily young and healthy but maybe themselves in the ‘at risk category’, trying to provide a safe home environment potentially at personal cost to their health and wellbeing. These people are not going to complain or ask for help because many see this as their role but we should be thinking about how we can support them to have a break and recover some of their energy to carry on their role. Donations to Calvert Kielder will help support these people to get respite for both the carer and cared for.
