Songs for Scotland is a series of virtual concerts produced by the STV Children’s Appeal to raise money for some of Scotland’s most vulnerable communities.
1 in 4 children in Scotland are living in poverty - and they need our help during the coronavirus pandemic.
With many families out of work, children unable to see friends and no sign of Scotland’s lockdown being lifted just yet, many of the country’s young people need extra support during this hard time.
Helping young people in need is the focus of our new series, and I'm delighted to be joined by some of Scotland's favourite faces along the way. Head over to the STV Children’s Appeal Facebook page to see previous concerts from Annie Lennox, KT Tunstall, Amy MacDonald and Marti Pellow.
The Children’s Appeal has joined forces with the National Emergencies Trust (NET) to raise and distribute money for and support victims at times of domestic disasters.
The Appeal also works with hundreds of charities across Scotland, which are currently facing increased pressure to care for those affected by coronavirus and are in desperate need of additional funding. The campaign is asking people who are able to donate to give what they can.
A donation of £5 could provide internet access to a young person feeling cut off from others while self-isolating, whereas a donation of £10 could provide a day of gas and electricity to heat a family home, or provide essential food and household items like nappies.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
