The Skiers Cumbrian Cycling Challenge will see a team from the ski industry and other ski enthusiasts band together in what will probably be their hardest ever day’s cycling. The route is that of the Fred Whitton Challenge, a gruelling 113 mile circuit round the Lake District taking in climbs of Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott and Wrynose. All in all there will be 4000m of ascent and Britain’s toughest climb (Hardknott Pass) with gradients of up to 30% (and that is not a typo!) coming at 94 miles. Everyone is taking part to raise funds for Snow-Camp, a charity that helps disadvantaged young people turn their lives around through snowsports, life skills, qualifications and work experience.
