The UK’s mass participation event industry has come together with JustGiving to create The 2.6 Challenge, a nationwide fundraising campaign launched in response to COVID-19 to Save the UK's Charities.

Be a stay at home hero. Take on the 2.6 Mighty Challenge and help The Mighty Creatives to help the most vulnerable children and young people across the East Midlands.

So, this weekend, we would normally be celebrating the thousands of London Marathon runners making the 26.2 miles across London to raise vital funding for the UK’s charities, just like The Mighty Creatives. But the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic means that so many fundraising events and activities, raising such important funds for children and young people, cannot go ahead this year.

2.6 Mighty Challenge

Here at The Mighty Creatives we are taking the 2.6 Challenge to our own mighty level, using the campaign to help us raise awareness and raise vital funds to support some of our most vulnerable children and young people across the region.

Annually we support 100’s of young people leaving care to access critical support to help them make the transition from care to independent living. This is a huge step at any time for these young people who at just 16-19 years of age find themselves now navigating independence alongside the isolation of the coronavirus crisis.

With so many more young people vulnerable, isolated, lonely, with limited access to support and in some cases no food in the cupboards, we simply cannot wait to offer them support. The need is now. But by taking on the 2.6 Challenge, together we can still make a difference for our children around the region.

What is The 2.6 Challenge?

The 2.6 Challenge kicked off on Sunday 26th April. It is a nationwide event that you can do anywhere – yes even in your home.

The challenge can be anything you like – as long as it has the number 26 in it! All you need to do is dream up an activity, donate or fundraise with us, and smash your challenge, starting from Sunday 26th April 2020.

To support our campaign, and starting on Tuesday 28th April, I will be spending 26 minutes a day learning German for the next 26 days! For some, this may not seem like a huge challenge. However, I have always struggled with learning new languages and dropped all related subjects back at Secondary School.

You can track my progress here on this page and that of our team and supporters throughout the month across our social media channels @MightyCreatives and by following #BeMightyBeCreative26 #StayMightyStayCreative

Want to join me? As we are mighty and creative, your challenge does not have to be a physical one. We have already had some fantastic ideas: hosting a virtual dance off with 26 friends, singing 26 songs non-stop on a Facebook live, pledging to walk up and down the stairs reading your favourite book 26 times for 26 days!

Whatever you do, make sure you follow government guidelines on exercise and social distancing #staysafe #stayhome #protecttheNHS

Fundraise with us!

You can donate or fundraise for us via Just Giving. Once you have set up a fundraising page, do not forget to share it on social media with the hashtag #BeMightyBeCreative26 #TwoPointSixChallenge @MightyCreatives
