Story
January 2024
Hi everyone. As you may know I started this fundraising page two years ago to "celebrate" my 50th birthday. That year (2022) I ran 52 marathons in 52 weeks to raise money for St John's Hospice. They had kindly offered me a place in the London Marathon and this was my way of thanking them.
St John's also offered me a place in 2023 and now they have given me a place in the marathon this year too. To thank them for this opportunity I wanted to give myself a new challenge in the hope of increasing the money raised so far from just over £4000 to £6000. But of course, after running 52 marathons in a year, I can't really expect folks to sponsor me to run just one marathon. So after a lot of thought the challenge is....
...To run 366 days out of 366 in 2024! Yes every day for a year. And not only to do a RED (Run Every Day) but to ensure that each run is a minimum of 5k/3miles!
St John's Hospice critically relies on voluntary donations to help fund its services and to make up for the loss of income as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Hospice have supported children who lost their parents, fought for patients to get welfare benefits while they cant work, and empowered HIV-positive women to open up to their communities about their illness despite stigma. Ultimately, St John's Hospice is a community that supports patients and their families throughout their journey. Thank you for supporting this cause and for allowing St John's Hospice to continue proving free care to those in need!
