We tackle homophobia triggered by religion to help parents accept their children

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Have being inspired by the Rana and Kate storyline in ITV's Coronation Street and seeing the struggle that Rana is going through about her sexuality, especially in relation to her parents, her culture and her religion, I decided that I really wanted to help others in this situation and at the same time give something back and say thank you to everyone at Coronation Street and especially actresses Bhavna Limbachia and Faye Brookes for taking on and doing such an amazing job with this storyline.

After becoming aware of the incredible Naz & Matt Foundation and the wonderful work they do in tackling religious and cultural homophobia and making sure religion never comes in the way of the unconditional love between parents and their children, I very much wanted to support them in any way that I could. I was originally supposed to be running the Great Manchester Run in May but unfortunately I was taken ill on the day and ended up in hospital and was sadly unable to complete the run. So on the 9th September I will be running the Salford Quays 10k to try and raise as much awareness & money as I can for this amazing foundation.

I would really like to not only reach my target of raising £500 but to raise even more if that's possible so all donations, however small, really do matter and would be greatly appreciated. If anyone would also like to join me in running in the Salford Quays 10k for the Naz and Matt Foundation then please do as the more awareness and money that can be raised the better and I would very much appreciate your support. Thank you.

Leanne.
