Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Ruben I am 20 years old living in Norfolk. 3 months ago, I decided to take up the hobby boxing it’s been a big challenge physically and mentally but at the moment has become a part of my day-to-day life. I’m proud to announce after 3 months of hard training and pushing myself I will be competing in my first boxing match for charity!

I want to raise money for men's mental health. I have decided to try and raise money for a local charity Men's Craft by 'fighting for men's mental health' at a charity boxing match on the 3rd December 2022.

THE FACTS:

  • 5,000 suicides registered in the England last year.
  • Approx three quarters of the deaths were men.
  • Suicide is the biggest cause of death in men under the age of 50
  • Tragically every 90 minutes someone dies from suicide in the UK

MensCraft is a Norfolk-based charity focusing exclusively on the health and wellbeing of men.  They support men facing life’s challenges or experiencing difficulties with their mental health.

They offer information, activities and programmes and provide one-to-one support and access to other specialist services. Their range of activities give men purpose, the opportunity for connection with others, and for improved wellbeing.

I am so proud of being able to say that fortunately I have been really lucky to have had a supportive family who understands that ADHD is just a different mind that sees and operates differently. I have watched many friends go through difficult times and even though times are changing men often still struggle to open up in today’s society which concludes this the reason why this is my chosen charity I want to be able to help men see that they are not alone and that there is support out there.

Any donations received whether it’s a penny or a pound it will help them provide support to others to make a difference.

About MensCraft

Men’sCraft were founded in 2010, however since then their community has developed and expanded over the years.

In 2020 MensCraft changed from a Community Interest Company to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. They are funded by local and national trusts, local health and statutory organisations and donations from individuals what really helps make a difference.

They have a range of projects and programmes to support men to manage life challenges. These includes unemployment, debt, family breakdown, parenting, addiction, bereavement, loneliness – and to address the emotions and behaviours such challenges may generate, including lack of self-worth, anger or withdrawal.

These projects are proven by men who have been following them for the past six months that they feel as follows

*Less socially isolated (96%)

*Improved wellbeing (91%)

*Less hopelessness (88%)

*Improved purpose & positive motivation (87%)

*Improved mental health (86%)

Please help me to raise money for this charity so Men in Norfolk get the support the deserve
