Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
To raise money for the wonderful Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, starting on June 1st, I did my version of the 3 Peak Challenge. Like the original, I climbed Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mt Snowdon. But rather than race around doing it in 24 hours, I'm took a more leisurely 2 weeks . . . though that's because I threw in the challenge of cycling the 500+ miles between the 3 mountains (yes I went the scenic way, sticking to National Cycle routes).
Why did I do this? Well this was the fundraising idea I had discussed with my wonderful, gorgeous, funny and kind wife, Wendy, last year before the 2nd wave of Covid stopped everything in its tracks. So I did it in memory of Wendy. I did it to raise money for a fantastic cause. And I did it for me, to give me something to focus on, that will do good and that Wendy will have thought was completely bonkers.
I cannot over emphasise how important all the staff and volunteers from Phyllis Tuckwell were in allowing us to give Wendy the end of life she wanted. It allowed her to spend the last weeks and days of her life in the comfort of her home with her loving family. They were unceasingly kind & compassionate but also professional and extremely competent. It meant all I had to worry about was giving Wendy all the love and attention she needed.
