Story
On the 4 July 2009 Private Robert Laws, 18, from 2 Battalion The Mercian Regiment, was killed in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Robbie was very well known in Bromsgrove, and had a large group of friends. As it approaches the fifth year anniversary of his death, fifteen close friends are planning a charity bike ride in support of Help for Heroes.
What has been dubbed the ‘Tour De Laws’ will officially begin on the 2 July, when fifteen close friends of Robbie will depart on a cycle of over 210 miles, spread over 3 days. As you can imagine this will be a gruelling experience, and the training will begin months before. We are writing to you in the hope that you will support our journey, in the way of funding equipment, or supporting our chosen charity, Help for Heroes.
The Help for Heroes mission is to deliver an enduring national network of support for our wounded soldiers and their families. It aims to inspire and enable those who have made sacrifices on our behalf to achieve their full potential. The war in Afghanistan may be nearly over, but for those who have suffered life-changing injuries, their battles are just beginning. By supporting Help for Heroes we are supporting their battles.
