Bilal, Julian and Robbie are running The Milton Keynes half marathon on Sunday 7th March 2010!
The money raised will go towards the Salvation Army in Bristol, who run a unique project specifically for
chronic alcoholics aged over 55 who are isolated and vulnerable in the
community. They offer support in their accommodation and then a 12 day
detox on their specialist unit in the St Judes area of Bristol. The
project is funded by The St Monica Trust who have kindly provided
funding for the nurses and medication required for the clinical aspect
of this work. The success rate of this project is phenomenal as the
emphasis is on raising clients self esteem, addressing isolation and a
firm belief it is never too late to change.
One thing all of these clients lack is decent new clothing to put on
as they start to feel better in the detox and think how different their
life can be in the future. All contributions will be used directly for
this purpose showing individuals that life can be hugely different
once their alcoholism is addressed.
If we raise over £200, Robbie will do it dressed as a Banana, so there's a further incentive to get donating!
Cheers,
Bilal, Julian, Robbie.
