Story

Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues

Thank you for visiting our 'Just Giving' website

It might come as a bit of a surprise to some of you, but we have decided to mark our 'life begins at 40' year by raising money for a good cause and attempting to keep fit at the same time by running the Reading half marathon on 21st March

We would like to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust as our very special friends children, Fleur nearly 5 and William 3 are sufferers. They are brilliant and beautiful children and we have loads of fun with them.  We hope that by running this marathon we can contribute to the important research that is required to find treatments to help our dear friends and thousands of sufferers.

Wish us luck and thank you so much for sponsoring us.

Lots of Love , Rob and Gayle

Below is a summary of CF:-

What is Cystic Fibrosis?

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases.
Cystic Fibrosis affects over 8,500 people in the UK.
Over two million people in the UK carry the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis - around 1 in 25 of the population.
If two carriers have a child, the baby has a 1 in 4 chance of having Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food.
Each week, five babies are born with Cystic Fibrosis.
Each week, three young lives are lost to Cystic Fibrosis.
Around half of the CF population can expect to live over 38 years, although improvements in treatments mean a baby born today could expect to live even longer.

So we are running the Reading Half marathon on 21st March
