Story
In 2015 a couple of my friends introduced me to the world of Triathlon. I have taken part in 2 events so far, both of which have been 'sprint triathlons' which are great for people who are new to the sport. You swim 750m, bike 20km and run 5km.
I have decided to take my new hobby to the next level and have entered an Ironman event. Specifically the Ironman 70.3 Mallorca on May 07th which is known as a 'half Ironman'. This consists of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run (half marathon) - 70.3 miles in total. I have ran half marathons before but never on tired legs!
This will be a really great challenge for me, but I am doing it for a greater cause - The Newlife Foundation who provide essential equipment in Nottinghamshire for children & young people with disabilities and terminal illness that can help prevent long-term complications and enable children to do the things we all take for granted. These aren’t luxuries, but items like car seats for safer travel, beds for complex care needs, wheelchairs that enable young people to access their community and communication aids which allow them to tell their parents they love them.
Unlike many charities, 100% of any donation goes directly to those children in need.
