Fundraising for BBC Children in Need
One night. One bonkers group of people. One haunted museum. All in aid of one charity, Children in Need. With Children in Need night looming, a group of office colleagues have decided to embark upon a nocturnal adventure to raise funds for disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. The challenge is a midnight ghost hunt in Peterborough's most notoriously haunted building, Peterborough Museum . The aim is to raise as much as possible for Children in Need by scaring ourselves senseless and seeking out what goes ‘bump in the night.'The museum dates from 1816 and was originally used as a private house until it was eventually sold on to become Peterborough’s first hospital and infirmary, before becoming a museum in 1931.Reports of paranormal activity have been reported since the building became a museum. Visitors and workers alike have reported unexplained noises and sightings of figures flittering down the corridors. One of the most common has been described as a dark-haired male wearing a grey suit believed to be World War One ANZAC soldier Thomas Hunter. Injured in the French trenches, he was brought to England for specialised treatment, but his wounds were so bad that he was taken off a train at Peterborough and rushed to the hospital. He died there on July 31, 1916.On Friday 7th December, despite being armed with all this supernatural knowledge, we shall go ahead and hunt down these spooks that wander the corridors of the museum - brown underwear and all. So please dig deep into those pockets and give whatever you can, it’s all in aid of a really good cause.Believe us when we say this is not our ideal Friday night outing, but if your still not convinced maybe this might change your minds...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih4HJA_U6c0
