Story
Hi Everyone
During 2013 I am embarking on a series of Duathlons and Triathlons to raise money for the Tom Press Foundation.
The foundation was established in June 2010 in memory of Tom Press, who is my godson, who died in September 2007 from cancer.
Tom was diagnosed with a Ewings Sarcoma in his spine in September 2004 at the age of eight. He bravely fought for three year the illness with a smile on his face and a joke to share. He is greatly missed by his family and friends. The focus of the foundation is to aid organisations, in the form of grants, which provide support to children suffering from life threatening or long term illnesses. This can be in the form of:
· Providing opportunities that they would otherwise not get to enjoy
· Providing respite care for siblings
· Funding medical research into life threatening children’s illnesses.
The foundation will also support the advancement of education for children with learning difficulties, as well as helping to meet children’s educational needs whilst undergoing treatment in hospital for life threatening illnesses.
All these organisations provide unbelievable support to children and their families at a very difficult time and desperately need our support to continue to provide their invaluable assistance.
So having given up hockey nearly 2 years ago due to old age and creaking joints (most especially knees) I needed to find another way to stay fit, provide that little bit of competition (Golf just does not do it) and so I have started training for triathlons, the big breakthrough in this quest was finding a pair of goggles that did not leak enabling me to actually swim without the fear of losing my contact lenses.
I have now completed 4 triathlons this year, the last being an Olympic distance at The Vachery in Cranleigh. I have now entered a Half Iron Man for September 22nd at Eton Dorney, your donations continue to motivate me so keep them coming for a very worthy cause.
