Story
Originally from South Africa - sports played a large part in my life growing up, both in an individual capacity and within a team. I remember the thrill of winning, along with the heartache of losing, all valuable life lessons, most of these lessons we experience throughout our lives.
The Panathlon Challenge is a national charity which provides sporting opportunities for over 17,500 disabled young people each year. 1,020 schools took part in their 397 ‘mini Paralympic’ competitions, training courses and coaching days in 2017/18. Without Panathlon, many of their competitors would not otherwise have an opportunity to take part in competitive sport.
I will be joining a group of fellow fundraisers to take part in their own version of the "Ultra Challenge" to help with raising funds, so that Panathlon can continue to make a difference to the lives of thousands of disabled young people across the country. The 50km trek is along the iconic Thames Pathway setting off from Staines bridge in the early hours of Saturday the 28th September - and eventually reaching Putney Bridge to complete the walk.
